Finance Associate

An impact fund operating in the development finance sector is seeking an Finance Associate. Managed by a highly motivated and diverse international team, the fund is experiencing an exciting expansion phase due to growing demand for its products and a broadening investment base.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing invoices for timely approval and payment by the accounting team; monitoring accounting entries and tracking actual costs versus budgets; maintaining associated digital and physical files; forecasting costs and expenses and supporting the annual budgeting process.
  • Performing periodic financial, operational, compliance, and IT controls.
  • Preparing and publishing financial, portfolio management, and regulatory reports using MS-Excel, Power-BI, and other platforms; extracting required data sets from systems using standardized or bespoke queries; resolving data quality issues.
  • Processing and approving system access requests.
  • Supporting the preparation of unaudited and audited annual financial statements and disclosures; answering queries from financial and operational auditors; keeping financial and other data in the fund's prospectus up to date.
  • Inputting and approving client and other static data in systems.

Qualifications:

  • Around 3 years of experience in a comparable function, preferably in a financial services environment or Big 4.
  • A university degree in finance, accounting, business, or similar.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • Good knowledge of the Office 365 platform (especially Excel). Proven ability to manipulate and analyze/present large data sets consisting of financial and other business information.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and finance and an understanding of business control principles.
  • Driven, proactive, result-oriented, and accountable personality who meets deadlines and can multitask accurately, flexibly, and patiently.
  • Team player and detail-oriented but able to anticipate needs and problems and formulate pragmatic plans to address issues.
  • Excellent communication and social skills; client-focused team player comfortable developing relationships at all levels.
  • Affinity with the fund's mission and an interest in emerging markets.
