M&A Associate - Business Services

About the Role: Our client specializes in strategic advisory services focusing on M&A to help clients achieve growth and objectives. They are looking to bring on an Associate, for the M&A team, responsible for leading transactions and contributing to business development. You will leverage your comprehensive understanding of consulting services, corporate finance processes, and project management to drive success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for the day-to-day execution of transaction advisory mandates across various segments within the knowledge economy.
  • Develop, construct, and manage discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, and merger consequence models for both active and prospective M&A transactions.
  • Lead the creation of compelling pitch books to support the firm's marketing efforts.
  • Mentor and train Analyst bankers, promoting excellence through best practices.
  • Maintain client relationships during deal execution and build industry-specific expertise.
  • Regularly communicate with other internal teams to ensure smooth collaboration and sharing of best practices.
  • Conduct research and analysis on clients and prospects, as well as industry sub-sectors, and contribute ideas for these clients and prospects.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of investment banking experience from an investment bank, boutique, or accountancy firm, covering all aspects of the M&A transaction cycle.
  • Extensive knowledge of M&A with the ability to apply skills creatively to diverse client needs.
  • Exceptional analytical and numerical skills, with a strong proficiency in financial data.
  • Sound judgement, particularly in valuation matters.
  • Experience in preparing and leading client pitches.
  • M&A experience in the business services/consulting sector is highly valued but not essential.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and reviewing the work of Analysts.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Pitch Book, CapIQ, and MS Office applications.
