A leading energy company is seeking an experienced risk professional to join its global Middle Office Risk team. This role is crucial in ensuring transparency and adherence to risk management policies within the organization's trading operations. The company has a strong presence in the commodity markets, with offices in North America and internationally, and is expanding its crude, refined products, natural gas, power, and environmental trading activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
4+ years of relevant experience in commodity trading (Front, Middle, or Back Office).
Strong knowledge of commodity risk management, including derivatives, physical crude and refined product markets, trading cycles, and risk metrics such as VAR, Stop Loss, and Stress Testing.
Familiarity with industry best practices in risk governance processes and procedures.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders globally.
Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks related to derivatives trading.
Ability to develop risk frameworks to support broader commodity risk management initiatives.
Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and present insights effectively.
Ability to remain objective and independent when working with Front Office teams.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Key Responsibilities:
Generate and publish daily risk exposure and P&L reports for crude, products, and LPG trading.
Deliver insightful and automated management information to enhance transparency.
Provide independent analysis of trading strategies, identifying and mitigating financial, operational, and reputational risks.
Administer and enforce risk governance policies to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
Serve as the primary risk contact for specific product lines, working closely with teams across multiple locations.
Support standardization and continuous improvement efforts within risk processes.
Collaborate with commercial and functional teams to facilitate business expansion.
Balance independent reporting and control responsibilities with a business-oriented mindset.
Contribute to cross-functional projects, audit support, working capital analysis, and financial reconciliations.
Maintain a strong understanding of physical and financial energy markets within the assigned commodity area.
