Associate Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting

Selby Jennings has partnered with a leader in the biopharmaceutical space on a new search for an Associate Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. This role is in a hybrid work model (3 days in office per week) in Westlake Village, CA.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting with 12-14 years of experience or MS/MBA with 11-12 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years in accounting and reporting, including 3 years in public accounting (preferably Big 4).
  • CPA required.
  • Strong financial reporting and accounting skills.
  • Significant SEC reporting/compliance experience.
  • Life science/biotech experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilites:

  • Partner with VP, Corporate Controller to ensure financial statements comply with U.S. GAAP and SEC rules.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and footnotes for annual (10-K) and quarterly (10-Q) reports, and quarterly press releases.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership on significant transactions and SEC reporting.
  • Stay updated on biotech industry technical guidance.
  • Prepare white papers on technical accounting issues and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, legal teams, and internal stakeholders for accurate reporting.
  • Manage documentation and testing of internal controls for SOX 404 compliance.
  • Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ERP system design and implementation related to SOX controls.
  • Maintain and manage stock administration function.
  • Ensure integrity of stock and option award activity.
  • Assist General Counsel with Directors' and Officers' compliance and reporting.
  • Act as a trusted partner and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
